The Wolf in Exile

Bestowal dialogue

'There's been rumour of a scarred, old wolf spotted away from the rest of the pack -- in fact, across the road from the wolf-den north of my farm. I don't know what might have happened, but I think it's fair to say that this old wolf must be their leader, exiled for some reason.
'Now, I think I've done something terribly foolish, <name>! My neighbour, Jolly Smallburrow, is a true gentlehobbit, and I suspect he's something of an admirer of mine. Unfortunately, I mentioned this wolf business to him, and he swore to take care of it!
'If you don't mind, would you please find Jolly before the wolf does? I'll feel terrible if something happens to him!'

Background

Dora Brownlock thinks an admirer of hers has gone to try and kill the exiled leader of the wolves near Waymeet.

Objective 1

Jolly Smallburrow may be after the wolf that was seen across the road from the wolf-den, north of Dora Brownlock's farm.
Dora Brownlock is worried that her neighbour, Jolly Smallburrow, may be in trouble and has asked you to find him.
Dora: 'Jolly means well, but he's always trying to find ways to impress me. I hope you find him before that dreadful wolf does!'
Jolly: 'Dora was worried about me? Truly? Perhaps she does have feelings for me! Well, to tell you the truth, I was a little worried myself about what would happen once that wolf showed its muzzle around here.
'I felt sure my bucket of boar meat would lure the beast out of hiding, too. Ah, well. Maybe I didn't get smelly-enough boar meat...
'I'll clean this up, and we can go talk Dora together....'
Jolly Smallburrow says, "Oh well, I suppose I should clean up this bait."
Jolly Smallburrow says, "Gracious me, what do I do with it?"
Jolly Smallburrow says, "It smells something awful!"
Jolly Smallburrow says, "Oh no!"
Jolly Smallburrow says, "Uh... nice wolf?"
Jolly Smallburrow says, "Help!"
Jolly Smallburrow says, "Hooray!"
Jolly Smallburrow says, "Thank you, friend! Dora is sure to court me now this beast is dealt with!"

Objective 2

Dora Brownlock is at the centre of Waymeet.
Dora will be pleased to know that you have rescued Jolly Smallburrow and defeated the scarred leader of the wolves that have been harassing her farm and town.
Dora: 'You rescued Jolly, <name>, and thank goddness! I knew there wouldn't be an old wolf that could do you in, though I'm sure the same can't be said for poor, well-meaning Mr. Smallburrow.
'I have not yet decided whether to take him up on his dinner invitation. Yes, he ran straight here to ask before you even returned!'

Wolves At Waymeet

Bestowal dialogue

'I don't know that I can go home until I know those wolves are gone for good! What if they come for my babies again?
'You were so brave to rescue my little darlings...I'm sure you could do something about the wolves. The awful beasts that attacked my farm came from the north...there must be a wolf den somewhere among the hills north of my farm!
'Oh, please do hurry! I really would like to go home soon.'

Background

Wolves overran Dora Brownlock's farm and present a threat to Waymeet and the surrounding communities.

Objective 1

The wolf den is off the road north of Dora Brownlock's farm and Waymeet.
Dora Brownlock is grateful that you rescued her chickens from the wolves, but she is afraid to go home until she is sure that the wolves will no longer trouble her. She has asked you to go to the wolf den and put an end to the threat.
Dora Brownlock: 'The wolf-den is somewhere north of my farm, <name>! I simply can't return home while they are still wandering around.'
Peony Grubb: 'You haven't taken care of the wolf problem around Waymeet for my friend Dora yet? You'd best get started on that!'

Objective 2

Dora Brownlock is at the centre of Waymeet.
Dora Brownlock will be pleased to hear that you have done something about the wolves threatening the area.
Dora Brownlock: 'Thank you for your efforts, <name>! We won't need to fear these wolves now that you've killed their leader!
'What? You didn't see their leader at the wolf den? He won't be an ordinary pack-leader, that's for sure. The real leader of the wolves must be in hiding. Until we do something about the chief wolf, no one in the are will be safe!'

Rescue Dora's Chickens

Bestowal dialogue

'When the wolves chased me off my farm, I didn't have enough time to collect my babies! My poor darlings...what was that? My chickens, of course! If those wolves have gotten hold of them, I just don't know what I'll do!
'You can save them for me, <name>, I know you can! Follow the road north up the hill and out of Waymeet, then take the first stone path to your right. You'll see a sign for my farm at the correct crossing.
'Quickly! You must save my little darlings!'

Background

Wolves have invaded the Shire, and some of them chased Dora Brownlock from her farm and have begun to feed on her chickens.

Objective 1

Dora's chickens are at her farm north of Waymeet, at the end of the first stone path on the right off the main road.
You went to Waymeet to help Dora Brownlock at the behest of Peony Grubb. Dora has in turn asked you to rescue her chickens from her farm, which has been overrun by the wolves.
Dora: 'You simply must rescue my babies from the wolves! you'll find my poor dears at my farm, to the north of Waymeet. Please hurry!'

Objective 2

Dora Brownlock is at the centre of Waymeet.
Dora Brownlock will be pleased to have her chickens returned to her, safe from the threat of the wolves prowling about her farm. You should return to her at once.
Dora: 'You saved my chickens! Thank you so much! I don't know what I would have done if the wolves had gotten my darling Rosy, or my precious Georgie, or my lovely Dottie!
'Someone needs to do something about these wolves, and I think that someone is you, <name>!'

Worries from Waymeet

Bestowal dialogue

'I've received a most distressing letter! My good friend Dora -- she's a chicken farmer near Waymeet -- has written to say that a pack of wolves has invaded the Shire and driven her from her farm! She's staying in Waymeet for the time being, but the sooner she can get her farm back, the better!
'Can you help? Just take the north-east road right to the centre of Waymeet. You just tell Dora Brownlock that I've sent you to help with her wolf problem.
'Wolves in the Shire! What's going on in the world these days?'

Background

Peony Grubb has received word from her friend Dora Brownlock, a chicken farmer in Waymeet, that wolves have invaded the Shire and are threatening the town.

Objective 1

Dora Brownlock is at the centre of Waymeet, north-east of Michel Delving.
Peony Grubb has asked you to help her friend Dora with the wolves that have taken over her farm.
Peony: 'Dora Brownlock is a good friend of mine, so you'd best hurry to Waymeet, if you don't want your superiors to hear of this. Wolves! I can hardly believe it! In this day and age!'
Dora: 'Peony sent you to help me, <name>? She's a sweet lady, and a good friend! I'm glad to have your help.
'Yes, the wolves came slavering near to Waymeet recently and seemed to head straight for my farm! It was all I could do to escape to Waymeet without them noticing me!'
