Gift for a Friend

Bestowal dialogue

'Before you leave, <name>, I have one more boon to ask of you. I promised a bottle of last year's vintage to a friend at Duillond to the north, and my labours kept me too busy to fulfil that pledge. I hope this has not inconvenienced her.
'Could you deliver this bottle to Dolengyl for me? The refuge lies on the road that follows the river north beyond Limael's vineyard.
'If you reach the dwarf-port of Kheledûl, you have travelled too far north. Perhaps you should make use of the horse from here to Duillond.'

Background

Bregedúr promised a cask of the finest vintage to Dolengyl, an Elf at the refuge of Duillond.

Objective 1

The Elf-refuge of Duillond lies on the north road by the river.
Bregedúr has asked you to deliver a bottle of last year's vintage to his friend Dolengyl.
Bregedúr: 'You are looking for Dolengyl of Duillond. The refuge is on the river, yes, but it is a far distance north of here. You want to head north across the tributary and past Limael's Vinyard. You would be wise to use the horse to reach Duillond.'
Dolengyl: 'Splendid! I must admit that I wondered if perhaps Bregedúr would come through on his promise. I should have known that he would not forget a friend.
'Ah, this vintage has the promise of ageing nicely. Perhaps in some thirty years, it will have aged sufficiently. You have my thanks.'

Return the Cask

Bestowal dialogue

'All filled and ready for delivery. I would like to thank you for your assistance, <name>, as I would not have been able to see this last bit of harvest along without you.
This cask is meant for another; however, I should like to see it sent along to my friend Bregedúr. It was he who sent it to me, after all...why should he not have the finest wine of the valley?
'If you would, take this back to him at Celondim. Follow the path to the east and turn towards the south-east across the bridge. You will find him at the crafters' market.'

Background

Brethilwen wishes to thank Bregedúr for his kindness.

Objective 1

Bregedúr spends his time at the crafters' market in Celondim.
Brethilwen crushed the grapes you collected into a fine wine and sent them on to her friend Bregedúr in Celondim.
Brethilwen: 'Take the cask to Bregedúr at the crafters' market in Celondim, south of here.'
Bregedúr: 'Thank you, <name>, and thank my friend Brethilwen for knowing my intentions. I understand that Brethilwen was beset by goblins and that you fought many off to obtain this spirit. Know that it was for a worthy cause.'

Gleaning the Field

Bestowal dialogue

'By this time of the year, most of the grapes have been picked and the wine already bottled. This was a very generous season, however, and many of the vines are still laden with grapes. I would welcome your assistance. Wine-making is not easy work, but performing this task will certainly add to your appreciation of the wine you drink.
'Harder still when nasty goblins find their way into the fields and drive you off. I think though you might be sturdy enough to aid me.
'If you would, gather the grapes from the vines still hale and hearty enough and I will see that this cask is filled with the finest this vale has to offer.
'The vinyard is below us and further to the west along the stone path. Be careful of the goblins -- they are particularly nasty.'

Background

Brethilwen, the Master-vintner of Celondim, believes there are enough grapes left on the vine for one last cask of wine.

Objective 1

The fertile vines grow around a lake in a sheltered valley west along the stone path beneath Brethilwen. You will need to be wary of the goblins.
Brethilwen has asked you to pick the remaining grapes from Limael's Vinyard.
Brethilwen: 'Six large clusters of grapes from this season's ripe vines should be enough. Any less than that, and I could not in good conscience bottle them.'

Objective 2

Brethilwen is in Celondim, south-east of Limael's Vinyard.
You should return to Brethilwen with your harvest.
Brethilwen: 'Very good, <name>. Years from now, your efforts today will bring great joy to many. Hard work brings satisfaction, not just in wine-making but in all things.'
