Spiders in the Midgewater

Bestowal dialogue

'The Midgewater Marshes hide many dangerous creatures, as you have seen, and I intend to make sure that all threats to the people of Staddle are addressed.
'I've heard the farmers complaining about finding a particularly deadly breed of spider crawling in their fields. It seems that their presence is focused somewhere between the old Marshwater Fort and the Woodsedge Ruins in the Marshes. They have overrun both those old ruins, and I worry what might happen if they decide to come to Staddle in greater numbers.
'I would appreciate it if you would lessen the threat by killing a few of those dreadful creatures and their queen.'

Background

Edda Twiggins is still concerned that the creatures of the Midgewater Marshes pose an overlooked danger to the people of Staddle.

Objective 1

The brood-watcher presence lies between the old Marshwater Fort and the Woodsedge Ruins in the Midgewater Marshes.
According to Edda Twiggins, a deadly new breed of spider has appeared in the northern Midgewater, and she has asked you to thin their numbers.
Edda Twiggins: 'The marsh brood-watchers are a deadly breed of spider that makes its home in the northern Midgewater marshes, north-east of here. Tread carefully around them, <name>, for they are wily and dangerous and will be a great threat to the town if we do not deal with them.'
Watcher Reedy: 'The marsh brood-watchers are a deadly breed of spider that makes its home in the northern Midgewater Marshes, east of Staddle. Tread carefully around them, <name>, for they are wily and dangerous and will be a great threat to the town if we do not deal with them.'

Objective 2

Edda Twiggins can be found to the south-east of the ruins in the northern Midgewater Marsh.
Edda Twiggins will be pleased to hear of your success against the deadly marsh brood-watchers and their queen in the Midgewater Marshes.
Edda Twiggins: 'Good for you, <name>! Without the marsh-queen, it will be a long time before the spiders once again pose a threat to the town. Now that I am satisfied that the menace of the Midgewater Marshes has been overcome, I'll lend a hand to Redweed with those goblins.
'If the beastly things come too near the town, I will be sure to let you know, <name>!'

Neekers in the Marshes

Bestowal dialogue

'Everyone is talking about the goblins these days, but I'm worried about something other than the goblins. The sound of the Neekerbreakers in the Midgewater Marshes has gotten much louder recently. There are many more of them than there used to be, I'm sure of it! I'm afraid before long they will move out of the Marshes and descend upon the town!
'If you could kill a few of them, you would be doing this town a great service. The Midgewater Marshes are east of Staddle, beyond Swatmidge's farm.
'When you are done, seek out Edda Twiggins in the south-eastern reaches of the Midgewater Marsh. She will be happy to hear of your progress.

Background

Though always on the watch for the goblins, Watcher Reedy believes the creatures of the Midgewater Marshes, east of Staddle, are no less of a threat to the town.

Objective 1

  • Defeat Neekerbreakers in the Midgewater Marshes (0/8)
The Midgewater Marshes lie to the east of Staddle, beyond Swatmidge's farm.
Watcher Reedy is worried that the growing Neekerbreeker population in the north of the Midgewater Marshes poses a threat to Staddle that is being overlooked by the watchers because of the goblin troubles.
Watcher Reedy: 'The Neekerbeekers are in the Midgewater Marshes, east of Staddle. I suggest you search the northern stretch of the swamp, as the Neekerbeekers in that area are closest to town and pose the greatest danger.'

Objective 2

Edda Twiggins can be found out in the Midgewater Marshes, south-east of the ruins.
Watcher Reedy asked you to check in with the Watchers stationed in the Marshes after you succeeded in thinning the numbers of the Neekerbreekers in the Marshes.
Edda Twiggins: 'Excellent, <name>! It will be a while before the Neekerbreeker population again grows to be a threat to Staddle. It is good to know I can rely on you to deal with dangers to the town that do not walk on two legs!
'Still, I fear everyone is so excited about the goblins that they've forgotten that other dangers lurk in the Marshes!
'There's another threat I would ask your assistance with.'
