Disease Among the Boars

Bestowal dialogue

'Ah, a fine day to you! It's good to see the backs of the Blackwolds broken and peace settling over Archet once more. Now we can concern ourselves with less dire problems!
'Actually, you might be able to help with one of those problems, if you are interested. There seems to be an illness spreading among the local boars. And a terrible affliction it must be, for the beasts are more hostile than normal!
'We really must put an end to this illness, and the only way is to slay those afflicted. Would you do this?'

Background

Constable Thistlewool is troubled by the disease spreading through the boars in the wake of the destruction wrought on Archet. The boars must be destroyed before they infect the other wildlife and eradicate the diminished food supply in Archet.

Objective 1

Diseased boars roam the lands to the south and east of Archet's gate.
Constable Thistlewool thinks that the best way to end the disease afflicting the local boars is to slay those already infected.
Constable Thistlewool: 'Are you looking for those diseased boars? They should be roaming south and east of the gate.
'It may seem a bit harsh, slaying the beasts without any concern for their meat, but the spread of that illness is to slay those afflicted. It is a sad duty, but one that must be done!'

Objective 2

Constable Thistlewool can be found near the ruins of The Mad Badger Inn in Archet.
Constable Thistlewool will wish to hear of your success.
Constable Thistlewool: 'Ah, you've taken care of the poor, blighted creatures. Every boar that has caught that foul plague will, in the end have to be destroyed, but the few you've dealt with will slow the spread of the plague.
'Thank you!'

Avorthal's Favourite Haunts

Bestowal dialogue

'It is not like Avorthal to be late -- at least not without sending word -- nor to put aside his usual habits. Still, he has spent much time in contemplation in recent days.
'When Avorthal desires solitude for quiet thought, he spends much time beneath the white trees in this vale. Perhaps he is amongst them now, unbeknownst to anyone. Would you go there and find him? I would of course, but I shall not defy the will of the elves.
'Make your way into the vale of Nen Hilith and search for any signs of Avorthal. I pray you find him hale and hardy, but if not, perhaps you will find some sign of him -- even just his pack.'

Background

Athal is now concered about Avorthal as he missed not only the meeting with his friend, but is late to visit his father, Cardavor. Before causing greater worry to Cardavor, Athal has asked that you search for signs of Avorthal at his favorite spots within the vale of Nen Hilith.

Objective 1

  • Find Avorthal or Avorthal's Pack
Avorthal may be meditating beneath the white trees in Nen Hilith. The trees are found in the vale to the southwest.
Athal explained that Avorthal enjoys the quiet of the vale of Nen Hilith. He suggested that you search beneath the white trees for either the elf or his pack.
Athal: 'Avorthal has always been fond of sitting in the shade of the white trees in this valley. He says they bring him a calm unlike any he has known. Perhaps you will find him there.'
You recover a Leather Satchel

Objective 2

You discovered a leather satchel near the body of a slain goblin. Unclear if this is Avorthal's pack you should bring it to Athal at the camp on the north edge of Nen Hilith.
Athal explained that Avorthal enjoys the quiet of the vale of Nen Hilith. He suggested that you search beneath the white trees for either the elf or his pack.
Athal: 'This is Avorthal's pack, I am certain. I fear that something untoward has befallen my friend. Please, take this to Cardavor and tell him that I will do whatever I can to help find my friend -- his son.'
Collected the Elf-satchel

Objective 3

Cardavor is at Celondim northeast of the vale of Nen Hilith. Deliver the pack to him there.
You went to Nen Hilith and there found the dwarf Athal waiting for his friend Avorthal. After a short discussion you went into Nen Hilith to search for the missing elf and discovered his pack alongside a fallen goblin.
Athal: 'You must return to Avorthal's father, Cardavor, quickly. He must know that some ill has befallen his son.'
Cardavor: 'This is Avorthal's satchel, I am certain of it! Do you see this pattern on the side? Avorthal stitched that himself long ago. And you say there were goblins among the ruins?
'You bring me fell tidings, <name>. You are sure there were no other signs of Avorthal? Some sign that my son might have been hiding nearby, safe from the goblins but too far away to reclaim his satchel?
'Nay, that is a weak hope, and I must not trust to it. The goblins have brought down my son, my Avorthal. That is the only answer.'

Unlike Avorthal

Bestowal dialogue

'I have heard that you are well-travelled...perhaps you have seen my son Avorthal on your journeys? I received a message from him saying that he was coming from Duillond to visit, but he has not yet arrived. That is most unlike him.
'In his journeys here, he oft speaks with the travellers along the road and visits the vale of Nen Hilith with a friend of his, a dwarf named Athal. Athal watches the road and helps the few dwarf-travellers who come to Celondim. Perhaps Avorthal is speaking to him now and has simply forgotten the time. Would you seek him?
'Head across the woods southwest of Celondim to the vale of Nen Hilith, there is a small camp of elves there. If you do not find Avorthal there, perhaps you will find Athal. If so, speak to Athal and see what news he may have of Avorthal.'

Background

Cardavor, an Elf of Celondim, received a message from his son Avorthal saying that he was coming down from Duillond to visit; however, Avorthal is late, and Cardavor is concerned.

Objective 1

The dwarf, Athal, who Avorthal considers a friend was to come to the vale of Nen Hilith to speak with Avorthal. Athal is likely waiting for Avorthal at the camp to the southwest near Nen Hilith.
Cardavor hopes that his son was only delayed by a visit with his dwarf-friend Athal at the vale of Nen Hilith. He has asked you to journey southwest to find him.
Cardavor: 'Athal should be at the camp near Nen Hilith, it was he who last knew the whereabout of my son. Perhaps he has some news.'
Athal: 'Nay, I am still here waiting for Avorthal. He requested I meet him here at the vale of Nen Hilith and has yet to arrive.
'I meant to enter the vale myself, but the elves bade me not enter and being that Avorthal is not here to speak for me I dare not risk angering them.
'I am sorry that I cannot be more help to you or Lord Cardavor.'

Dwalin's Bad Day

Bestowal dialogue

'Dwalin is not going to be happy, <name>. There are troubles with Dourhands elsewhere in the Blue Mountains, but we thought they were out of Thorin's Hall forever. And to steal Longbeard gold from the treasury? Unbelievable!
'You had better head north into Thorin's Hall and show Dwalin the Dourhand sword-hilt you recovered from the Silver Deep. You will find him in the Throne Room at the north end of the Hall.
'Burglars and Dourhands be bothered! What did I do to deserve this, I ask you?'

Background

Unnarr cannot believe that the Dourhands have returned to Thorin's Halls and managed to steal Longbeard gold right from under his nose.

Objective 1

Dwalin is in the throne room of Thorin's Halls, north of the main square.
Unnarr has given you the unhappy task of telling Dwalin that the Dourhands have made off with some Longbeard gold.
Guard-captain Unnarr: 'You will find Dwalin in the Throne Room inside Thorin's Halls, to the north. Tell him that the Dourhands have returned, and they have burgled Longbeard gold from the treasury! I don't know if he will believe it, but you do have the Dourhand sword-hilt to prove it.'
Dwalin: 'Coming from anyone else, <name>, I would not believe these grim tidings, but you have always proven an honourable <race>.
'I too thought the Dourhands were gone from Thorin's Hall for good, but it seems they still had designs on our gold. We will teach them a hard lesson, <name>, and they will rue the day they sneaked back into Thorin's Hall like the brigands they are!
'We will discover where they have taken the stolen gold, <name>, and then we will deal with them. I swear this by the Durin's beard!'

Beyond the Cave-in

Bestowal dialogue

'Judging from the location of the treasury, I would say the burglars dug their passage from the Silver Deep, and that points to goblins. Goblins crawled into that mine shortly after that unpleasant business two years ago, and we haven't had much success driving them out.
'I want you to enter the Silver Deep and look for the other side of the cave-in. You might find some of the stolen gold or one of our burglars trapped on the other side. Bring me whatever you find.
'The entrance to the Silver Deep is in the north-eastern corner of the valley, at the end of a gully.'

Background

Unnarr believes the caved-in passage through which the burglars gained access to the treasury leads to the Silver Deep.

Objective 1

The other side of the caved-in passage is somewhere in the Silver Deep, the mine in the north-east corner of the valley.
Unnarr has asked you to search the Silver Deep for the other side of the caved-in passage through which the burglars were able to reach the treasury, perhaps finding some sign of their passing.
Guard-captain Unnarr: 'The Silver Deep is at the back of a gully in north-east corner of the valley. Watch out for goblins. Bring whatever you find back to me, and we can decide what should be done next.'

Objective 2

Unnarr is at Frerin's Court.
You discovered a dead Dourhand by the caved-in passage leading into the treasury, but did not find any of the stolen gold. Unnarr is waiting for your report and should be shown the Dourhand insignia on the sword you found.
Guard-captain Unnarr: 'What is this? You found this Dourhand sword at the other end of the cave-in? This is not good, <name>. Bad enough that our treasury has been burgled, but worse still that it was burgled by Dourhands!'

The Missing Guard

Bestowal dialogue

'The news I have received is most unsettling, <name>. One of the armouries has been left unguarded! Vitharr has been a stalwart and dependable guard until now, but he has apparently abandoned his post! Outrageous!
'I want you to investigate the unguarded treasury and confirm that Vitharr is not there. If anything is missing, I'll have his armour! He was next in line for commendation, but after this he won't see any praise for thirty years!
'The Arming-cave is to the north-west, very near to the great statue of Thorin carved in the mountain. Go there and look for Vitharr.'

Background

Unnarr, Captain of the Guard at Frerin's Court, was informed that one of the armouries had been left unguarded.

Objective 1

The unguarded Arming-cave is located near to the large statue of Thorin that looks out over the valley from the north-west of Frerin's Court.
Unnarr has asked you to learn what became of Vitharr, the guard assigned to the presently unguarded Arming-cave.
Guard-captain Unnarr: 'Vitharr will be cleaning the grime off the canal for the next thirty years if he has abandoned his post! Search the unguarded Arming-cave for him,and then report back to me! The Arming cave is to the north-west, very near to the great statue of Thorin in the side of the mountain.'
Vitharr: 'Oooh, what happened? What am I doing inside the Arming-cave? I was standing guard just outside the door, like I always do, and then...
'Ah, my head! Someone must have clubbed me and dragged me inside while they robbed the Arming-cave bare! This is terrible!
'That caved-in passage must be how they got in. Someone spent a long time digging that tunnel, I'd wager. Hurry back to Captain Unnarr and tell him what happened. Tell him also that it won't happen again! I'm sure it won't help the matters, but please tell him that I wasn't sleeping at my post. I don't know how this could have happened... and on my shift!'

Objective 2

Unnarr, the Captain of the Guard, can be found at Frerin's Court.
You found the missing guard, Vitharr, inside the Arming-cave, practically unconscious. Vitharr asked you to return to Unnarr and report that someone had assaulted him from behind and looted the Arming-cave.
Vitharr: 'Quickly, now. Back to the captain. He must be told what happend here.'
Guard-captain Unnarr: 'We've been burgled? This is outrageous! There was a lot of valuable gold and weapons in that cave, and we won't be replacing it any time soon. There's hardly an ounce of anything but stone and iron in these mountains!
'That caved-in passage might provide the clue we need to catch these burglars, <name>. They won't have gone far. They might be trapped beneath the rubble, and more importantly, the gold might be there too! I'll have some dwarves begin clearing it away. It will be a good first assignment for Vitharr...give him time to think about how dirty the canal can get.
'For you, <name>, I have a more urgent task.'

The Lost Tool

Bestowal dialogue

'Can you keep a secret? I was exploring an old cave over yonder, when I was attacked by one of those vicious cave-claws. In the fight, I accidentally left my pick-axe behind.
'Could you go and get my pick for me...and while you're at it, kill off a few of those cave-claws, so I can continue my digging in peace.
'The cave is to the east in the Winterheights. Hurry now! I think I was nearing a vein of gold when they drove me out!'

Background

Flosi, an elderly dwarf-prospector, lost his pick while digging in an old cave infested by cave-claws.

Objective 1

  • Find Flosi's lost pick-axe
  • Defeat cave-claws in cave (0/8)
The cave is east of Thorin's Hall, in the Winterheights.
Certain that he was nearing a vein of gold before being driven out of the cave, Flosi asked you to retrieve his pick-axe, as well as clear some of the cave-claws from the cave.
Flosi: 'My pick-axe must still be in the old cave south-east in the Winterheights.'

Objective 2

Flosi is on the stairs in front of the main gate to Thorin's Hall.
You should return the pick-axe to Flosi and let the old prospector know it should be safe for him to return to the cave.
Flosi: 'Ah, there she is! Thank you, <name>. But I've sad news...a friend of mine told me the cave's been tapped dry. There's naught but fool's gold in there.
'But don't you worry...I'll find my claim one of these days!'

The First Gear

Bestowal dialogue

'Greetings! I wonder if you could lend me a hand? I have been trying to repair this device, which opens access to the old Vault of the Mountain, but some key pieces, ancient gears, were removed and scattered long ago to prevent the Dourhands getting their grubby hands on the vault treasure.
'Now that we have finally ousted the Dourhands from Thorin's Hall, it is time to open the Vault, but first this device must be repaired. Old Sindri Winchmaster, the artificer who made this, had skill far beyond mine, so I'll need the actual pieces that were lost to have any hope of getting it to work again.
'They say the first missing gear was hidden somewhere in an old cave in the Winterheight, up the path south-east from Thorin's Hall. You will probably find it in a chest somewhere in the cave. There's a trick to the chest, by the way, you have to press in at the corners to open it....'

Background

Bávor is an artificer tasked with repairing the great lock which opens access to the fabled Vault of the Mountain.

Objective 1

  • Find the first gear
The first missing gear is in a cave in the Winterheight, south-east of Thorin's Hall.
Bávor has asked you to help reassemble the dwarf-built device which opens the Vault.
Bávor: 'They say the first missing gear was hidden somewhere in an old cave in the Winterheight, up the path south-east from Thorin's Hall. You will probably find it in a chest somewhere in the cave. There's a trick to the chest, by the way, you have to press in at the corners to open it….'
Found the first gear

Objective 2

Bávor is in Thorin's Hall.
Bávor will be pleased to see you have acquired the first gear.
Bávor: 'Ha! This looks like the gear! It goes here...or maybe here....
'No matter. I'll work it out given time, I'm sure of it!'

Gísli's Favourite

Bestowal dialogue

'Welcome and well met! I could use your help, if you have a moment. I've a bit of a problem -- nothing terrible, mind you, but difficult for this old dwarf. You see, it's my son, Gísli. He's a good fellow and all, but he is young and doesn't have the experience of his elders. He has just received his first post, down at Noglond in the Vale of Thráin.
'I want to send Gísli his favourite meal so he knows I'm thinking about him, but I don't have the most important ingredient: Cave-claw legs! If you can bring me a batch, I just know Gísli will be pleased! You can find cave-claws in the old mine east of Thorin's Halls.
'You've not had a good meal, until you've tasted my stew!'

Background

Ormr's son Gísli was recently assigned to his first post at Noglond, the way-station in the Vale of Thráin. The dwarf wants to prepare his son's favourite meal to show him he is thinking about him.

Objective 1

Cave-claws can be found in the old mine east of Thorin's Hall. Ormr is on the road south from Thorin's Hall to Noglond.
Ormr has asked you to collect the last ingredient he needs to prepare Gísli's favourite meal: cave-claw legs.
Ormr: 'I have started preparing the stew, but I need htose cave-claw legs to finish it, <name>. They are the most important ingredient!'
Ormr: 'I am at your service, <name>! I'll just add these to the stew...give me a few minutes.
'There we are! Could you take this meal to Gísli? You can find him south of here at Noglond, the way-station in the Vale of Thráin. Just follow the road south!
'Gísli will be pleased, I am sure.'

Objective 2

  • Bring Gísli the meal prepared by his father
Gísli is at Noglond, south of Thorin's Halls.
Ormr finished preparing the stew for his son and asked you to deliver it to Gísli for him.
Ormr: 'You should hurry if you're going to get that meal to Gísli before it gets cold. He is posted at Noglond, the way-station in the Vale of Thráin, south down the road.'
Gísli: 'Not again! This is the third meal my father has sent me in as many days! When will he realize I'm a grown dwarf, and not a child to be coddled and fretted over?
'Ah, you're not to blame. Thank you for the food. Maybe someday my father will realize I'm not the thin-bearded dwarf of sixty he remembers.'

A Patch in Time

Bestowal dialogue

'Hurry! Take the mortar and make the repairs before the fissures expand. It's only a matter of time before the wall is breached.'

Background

A fissure has opened in the great dwarf-canal leading down from Thorin's Hall, threatening to flood the Vale of Thráin.

Objective 1

  • Collect Mortar
Enter Thorin's Hall to the north, then go west to the Hall of Merchants.
Tindr gave you some mortar with which to repair the cracks in the canal walls.
Collected Mortar
Tindr: 'The canal is leaking into the tunnels beneath the Hall of Merchants. Hurry and patch the fractures!'

Objective 2

Tindr is in the courtyard outside Thorin's Hall.
The fissure was sealed. You should return to Tindr with news of your success.
Tindr: 'That's one less task to concern me. Perhaps that will fix the problems with the water supply they've been reporting down at Noglond, the way-station in the Vale.'

Sprung a Leak

Bestowal dialogue

'I am Tindr, Master Builder of Thorin's Hall. The great canal, for which I am responsible, has recently fissured. The crack has not yet become a serious threat, but it is only a matter of time, and I haven't any builders available to assist with its repairs. Could you help me seal the fissure?
'I need to mix a mortar to seal the crack but our stores are barren. I will need stone and gypsum from the old Mirkstone Tunnels and sand from the Rockbelly Pit. The Mirkstone Tunnels are above the great statue of Thorin to the north-west. The Rockbelly Pit is to the south-east in the Winterheight.
'If we do not seal the crack soon, it may break, flooding the Vale of Thráin below.'

Background

A fissure has opened in the great dwarf-canal leading down from Thorin's Hall, threatening to flood the Vale of Thráin.

Objective 1

  • Collect gypsum (0/5)
  • Collect sand (0/5)
  • Collect stones (0/5)
  • Bring the mortar ingredients to Tindr
Tindr is in the courtyard in front of Thorin's Hall. Sand is in the Rockbelly Pit south-east of Frerin's Court in a place called Winterheight. Gypsum and small stones can be found in the Mirkstone Tunnels above Frerin's Court to the north-west.
Tindr, the Master Builder of Thorin's Hall, has asked you to collect various ingredients for a mortar with which to repair a leak in the canal wall.
Tindr: 'Where are the materials I asked you to gather?'
Tindr: 'It will just take me a moment to make the mortar. You learn a few tricks when you've done this as long as I have.
'There we are! Now take this mortar to the fissures in the canal walls in the Hall of Merchants inside the western parts of Thorin's Hall.'

The Maker's Hall

Bestowal dialogue

'Our struggles against the Dourhands and the goblins continue with great vigour, <name>, but we must also do what we can to better the craftsmanship of the goods created within the Blue Mountains!
'My friend Egil Oldbeard has greeted fledgling craftsmen for the past hundred and thirty years...it keeps him young, he says! You should speak with him in the Maker's Hall if you are interested in turning your eye towards the fashioning of goods or equipment.
'Go north up the steps into Thorin's Hall proper. Once inside, walk north past the great statue and pass into the next hall. Turn to the east when you are halfway across the floor and you will descend some more steps into the Maker's Hall. Old Egil will be pleased to speak with you!'

Background

Bogi Deepdelver has asked you to speak with his friend Egil Oldbeard in Thorin's Hall about contributing to the state of crafting in the Blue Mountains.

Objective 1

Egil Oldbeard is in the Maker's Hall, inside Thorin's Hall, east of the entrance chamber.
Bogi Deepdelver suggested that you speak with his friend Egil Oldbeard, who has greeted fledgling craftsmen in the Blue Mountains for more than one hundred years.
Bogi Deepdelver: 'Egil Oldbeard is in the Maker's Hall, which is the iwng on your right as you pass hte big statue in the entrance of Thorin's Hall. Just go up the stairs there and inside the Hall -- you'll find it!
'He enjoys talking with prospective craftsmen and setting their feet on the path.'
Egil Oldbeard: 'Bogi sent you to me, I see. Good, good! It is always an honour to help guide fledgling craftsmen as they take the first steps of their art! Listen carefully, for my words are borne of experience! Look for the Master of Apprentices in the Maker's Hall...he walks about, supervising the goings-on. He can help you choose a vocation in which to specialize. A vocation is a bundle of three crafting professions with overlapping skills -- choose your vocation with care, because you will expend a great deal of time and energy improving your skill with the professions under its purview!
'Once the Master of Apprentices has welcomed you to your chosen vocation, be sure to speak with a Provisioner, such as the one that stays in the Maker's Hall. He can sell you the tools of your trade -- every Profession has its own tools, so be not over-shy with your coinpurse! The novices will be happy to sell you any recipes you might wish to have, though I can tell you now that you will already know how to make a thing or two.
'Equip the crafting tools you plan on using and find an appropriate facility -- the Maker's Hall has a forge, workbench, study and oven available for your use -- and begin practising your skills! You will advance in your chosen professions as you practice and seek out the teachings of others in the field. I hope you will become a skilled craftsman, <name>, and that it will bring profit to you and to the Blue Mountains! I will give you a few coins to get you started. Use them wisely and consider them an investment in your future as a skilled craftsman!'

In Defence of the Forest

Bestowal dialogue

'Our time is closing in this land. Soon we will be but legend and memory to the mortals who will remain upon these shores. While we are still here, however, we must do what we can to ensure that these lands remain safe and beautiful.
'The preservation of the land is why I have come to the port of Celondim. My brethren and I have been looking into recent events in a glade to the north. I am here to enlist any willing to go there and assist us in discovering the source of an infestation of sickle-flies among the trees to the west and south-west of the port.
'If you are willing, remove the threat of the sickle-flies from the trees and report to Ovorlas at Nen Hilith to the south-west.'

Background

Laenin the Glade-watcher plans to leave Middle-earth, but he would see the sanctity and the beauty of the forests surrounding Celondim preserved. Recent events have driven a large number of foul insects into the wood, and Laenin fears that the trees may suffer disease as a result.

Objective 1

Sickle-flies may be found in the forests west and south-west of Celondim.
Laenin the Glade-watcher informed you that he is recruiting those willing to help save the surrounding nature from an infestation of sickle-flies.
Laenin the Glade Watcher: 'You will find Ovorlas to the south-west, in the area we call Nen Hilith. Speak with him and assist him however you may, after you have removed the threat the sickle-flies pose to the surrounding wood.'

Objective 2

Ovorlas is at the Elf-camp in Nen Hilith, south-west of Celondim.
You have defeated many sickle-flies, as Laenin asked, and should now seek out Ovorlas.
Laenin the Glade Watcher: 'You will find Ovorlas to the south-west, in the area we can nen Hilith. Speak with him and assist him however you may, after you have removed the threat the sickle-flies pose to the surrounding wood.'
Ovorlas: 'Mae govannen! Laenin had you fighting back the sickle-flies? Good. It has become necessary to drive them out of the forest, lest they kill the trees.
'Your aid will be welcome here, <name>, for there is much to do.'

Cooper and Cask

Bestowal dialogue

'Now that you have collected the wood I would ask one more favour from you, friend.
'The cooper in Celondim, Bregedúr, needs the wood to craft his casks. I would ask that you seek him out at the highest levels of Celondim on the tiers of the crafters northeast of this location. Deliver the wood to him that he may build a proper cask.'

Background

Your collection of wood within the vale of Nen Hilith proved valuable to the elves. Glavrolnen would like you to take the wood to the cooper, Bregedúr, in Celondim.

Objective 1

Deliver the cask wood to Bregedúr at the crafting tier at Celondim.
Collecting the wood was half of the journey. Now you must deliver the material to the craftsman who shall make the cask for elven wine.
Glavrolnen: 'You will find Bregedúr amongst the crafters on the crafting tier within Celdondim.'
Bregedúr: 'More wood? Excellent, I have been kept busy enough to think I may soon need assistants.
'You have my thanks for this delivery, <name>. This wood will serve nicely as a cask for fine elven wine.'

Wood for Wine

Bestowal dialogue

'Our efforts here are to recover the land from this new threat, that is clear. We are also here at the behest of our kinsmen.
'In Celondim, there is a vinter who wants only to make a final offering to store enough wine to survive our journey to the west. I have offered to recover enough wood to build such a cask.
'You will need to search the wood in this vale for wood that has not been spoiled by the sickle-flies or the wolves. Return to me when you have collected enough sturdy pieces of wood, and I will grant you my favour.'

Background

The vintner Brethilwen desires to provide enough wine to last the final voyages from the Grey Havens to the Uttermost West, but needs wood for casks.

Objective 1

Wood may be found in the valley of Nen Hilith, south-west of the Elf-camp.
Glavrolnen has asked you to bring him several pieces of strong wood.
Glavrolnen: 'You will find the wood scattered throughout the vale of Nen Hilith to the south-west, but only some of the wood is strong enough to be used for making wine-casks.'
You pick through the wood-pile and select a good piece of timber
or
You search through the pile of wood, but find only rotten timbers

Objective 2

Glavrolnen can be found at the Elf-camp in Nen Hilith, north-east of the wood-piles.
Searching through the wood-piles, you were able to identify five good pieces of wood with which a sturdy cask can be built. You should now return to Glavrolnen
Glavrolnen: 'Yes, this wood will certainly do. This should please the cooper and the vintner both. The White Ships will certainly now be supplied with the finest wine from Ered Luin.'

Wolves of Nen Hilith

Bestowal dialogue

'Mae govannen, <class>. I overheard your discussion with Ovorlas and hope that you are willing to assist us. This vale was once a place of inspiring beauty where we could come and commune with nature. It has fallen far from those days since the incursion of these wolves.
'It is unclear where the wolves came from or why they chose to dwell in this valley, but it is clear that they must be removed to ensure that nature can return to its balance.
'Enter the valley and destroy the wolves to ensure the future of the valley. Return to me when you have completed this task, and you will have earned my favour.'

Background

Wolves have found their way into the peacful valley of Nen Hilith and have upset the balance of nature there.

Objective 1

  • Defeat wolves in Nen Hilith (0/6)
Wolves can be found in Nen Hilith, south-west of the Elf-camp.
Helhathel has asked you to defeat wolves in Nen Hilith in order to restore balance in the valley.
Helhathel: 'You will find the wolves dwell and hunt throughout Nen Hilith to the south-west. Be cautious and return to me when you have defeated many of the wolves.'

Objective 2

Helhathel at the Elf-camp, north-west of the wolf-haunts.
You successfully defeated a number of wolves within the valley of Nen Hilith and should return to Helhathel with your report.
Helhathel: 'Nature calls once again from the vale, I can feel it course through my being. We cannot rest on this virtue, but you have brought hope where there was sorrow, <name>. You have earned my favour.'
