Ill Gotten....

Bestowal dialogue

'If we are to investigate Cirith Núr, then we should also do what we can about recovering the many supplies the Orcs have received from raids and from the corrupted Men who aim to assist them.
'You are sure to find these supplies neatly tucked away in crates, packed far differently than Orcs would pack their provisions while marauding through the countryside. Collect these supplies, and I will see that they are restored to the Men of Bree and Trestlebridge.'

Background

Rangers, watching movements of enemies from the north and south, are concerned over the appearance of a foe they have long fought in the north.

Objective 1

Cirith Núr lies to the north-west of the Old Greenway Fort.
Andreg has asked you to search through the Orc-encampment at Cirith Núr for supplies stolen by -- or given to -- the Orcs.
Andreg: 'Have you found any supplies among the Orcs at Cirith Núr? The beasts have stolen much as they have made their way here, not to mention what they have received from their allies here in Bree-land.'

Objective 2

Cirith Núr lies to the north-west of the Old Greenway Fort.
Andreg has asked you to search through the Orc-encampment at Cirith Núr for supplies stolen by -- or given to -- the Orcs.

'I thank you much for your efforts.'

Orc Out-riders

Bestowal dialogue

'I have been watching the movement of Orcs crossing into Bree-land from the North Downs and fear that before we move to assist those besieged in the North Downs, we must first strengthen the borders here.
'I have seen the Orcs making their way south through the pass near Trestlebridge to small encampments on the east side of the Greenway. It is there I must first send you to fight back the enemy and lay them low.
'You will find the Orcs north of this location to the east of the Greenway. Return to me when this deed is complete.'

Background

Rangers, watching movements of enemies from the north and south, are concerned over the appearance of a foe they have long fought in the north.

Objective 1

Orc-encampments can be found north and east of the Old Greenway Fort.
Andreg asked you to make your way north to strike against the Orcs trickling in from the North Downs
Andreg: 'Look to the north near the hills and outcroppings on the eastern side of the Greenway for signs of the Orcs. We must begin to thin their number, or they will crash over this land like a terrible wave.'

Objective 2

Andreg is at his post outside of the Old Greenway Fort
Orcs crawling throughout the hills north of the Old Greenway Fort seem to be larger in number than the Rangers previously thought. Andreg must be informed.
Andreg: 'The number of Orcs pushing through Trestlebridge and other areas abutting the North Downs is disconcerting. We must not allow them to move beyond their current positions. We must do everything possible to end tis threat here and now.'

Signs of Struggle

Bestowal dialogue

'Though it brings me no pleasure, and I hope that you find nothing in your investigations, I must ask you to complete a grisly task while you purge the Orcs from Bree-land.
'The Orcs have come from the North Downs, and the simplest trail for them to follow will have been through the beleaguered town of Trestlebridge. I would ask that you search the Orcs you fell for signs of a struggle against the people of the North Downs in the form of cloth made by Men.
'Should you find anything of the sort, return it to me here at my post.'

Background

Rangers, watching movements of enemies from the north and south, are concerned over the appearance of a foe they have long fought in the north.

Objective 1

Orcs can be found along the eastern border of the Greenway, north of the Old Greenway Fort. Andreg awaits your return at his post near the Old Greenway Fort.
Andreg has asked you to search the Orcs along the Greenway's eastern borders for signs of a struggle against the Men of the North Downs. Though the Rangers hope that the Orcs have not attacked the Men of the North Downs, they wish to investigate and ensure that this is not the case.
Andreg: 'Perhaps you will find nothing, but I still wish you to look through the Orcs' belongings to ensure that the people of the North Downs remain unmolested.'

Objective 2

  • Deliver the cloth strips to Andreg at the Old Greenway Fort

Andreg: 'This find leaves me more concerned than before. Still our focus must remain here in Bree-land. There are lives to save here as well as in the Norht, and we must establish at least one bulwark against the Orcs.
'Thank you for doing this, <name>.'

A Blade of Renown

Ultan Foebane: 'You say you're a champion, <name>, but I have to tell you that I've never heard of you. What great deeds have you performed? None that I have seen, and still there is great danger in the surrounding countryside!
'I will recognize you as a champion only if you can slay three of the evils that threaten this town of Men. I give you their names and their favourite haunts and ask only that you end them and return to me!

'The people in this town of Men speak the truth, friend champion. I will give you some measure of instruction in the fighting arts, the better to improve the strikes you make at your enemies!'

My Brethren's Call

Bestowal dialogue

'Your reputation precedes you. We are well aware of your efforts here in Bree-land and abroad. We, the Rangers of the North, thank you for all you have done. I wonder, though...are you willing to aid us ever more? Are you willing to stand against foes that have long risen up against the Men of Middle-earth, threatening to tear us out by our roots and make this world over in the grim visage of evil?
'I think you are willing and able. It is for this reason that I ask you to make your way north along the Greenway to the place where a pass cuts towards the eastern hills. There, in the ruins of the Greenway Fort, you will find one of my brethren.
'His latest reports tell me of a great danger growing out of the north, and he is in need of much assistance.'

'This, at least, is a good hope to have.'

Outfitting the Defenders

Bestowal dialogue

'Goblins infest the narrow reaches of Rath Teraig, and stout-hearted dwarves keep the southern barricade against them. Their armour will fail before their spirits do, <name>, so we must do for them what we can!
'If you can ask a metalsmith to fashion bronze gloves and a bronze helm, then bring them to me, I will see that the staunch defenders of the barricade receive them.
'You will be paid for your trouble, of course, in coin and other small things, though given the importance of this task no one would presume to ask for payment.'

Background

Efi Plateshaper is eager to outfit the dwarves guarding the barricade to Rath Teraig and asked for your help collecting the necessary pieces of armour.

Objective 1

Efi Plateshaper is at Gondamon, in the Low-lands of Ered Luin.
Efi Plateshaper asked you to bring him bronze gloves and a bronze helm with which he can outfit the defenders of the barricade at Rath Teraig.
Collected bronze gloves
Collected bronze helm
Efi Plateshaper: 'Thank you for these, <name>. Take these coins and other items. I insist, even though the knowledge of the good you are doing for the defenders should be enough.'

Leggings for Gagi

Bestowal dialogue

'I don't know what the problem is, stranger. My father was a metalworker, and my father's father was a metalworker, but I do not seem to have inherited their skill with hammer and anvil. I do not know where it could have gone, for I have no brothers, but that skill certainly has avoided me!
'You see, I decided it was time to make a new pair of bronze leggings for myself, but I did something wrong with the heat of the fire and my hammer-blows and ended up with something more akin to a belt. A belt fused in on itself, with something like a sleeve on one end. I can't wear that! And I wouldn't wear it even if I could figure out how exactly to try it on!
'If you know a metalworker of even small skill, I'll pay you for some bronze leggings. I'll give you my leftover materials as well! And don't tell anyone about my...mishap...if you don't mind.'

Background

Gagi Cloudbrow tried to make himself some bronze leggings, but the event has been described as something of a disaster.

Objective 1

Gagi Cloudbrow is west of Frerin's Court.
Gagi Cloudbrow has asked you to procure for him some bronze leggings, because the pair he tried to make for himself turned out poorly, and in no way resembled the leggings for which he was trying.
'These will do very well, <name>! I don't understand how mine could have turned out so very differently, because they seem easy enough to make. I just don't understand.
'Here are the coins and materials I promised you. Take with them my thanks!'
